Healthy Heavenly Hash Bar

To add something fun to class activities, I did a Google search and found that today is National Heavenly Hash Bar Day (Feb 2nd).

Heavenly Hash Bar, I've never heard of before?? When I searched more for the name, it was a chocolate bar that mainly contains marshmallows and nuts. https://nationaldaycalendar.com/national-heavenly-hash-day-february-2/

Because my course is a health-related subject, I decided to make my own chocolate bar that tastes good with minimal additives!

-Ingredients-

1 semi-sweet chocolate bar for baking

Half a cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup milk

2 tablespoons Nutella

1 cup nuts (crushed)

dried fruit

Serial

First, prepare the mold to make the chocolate bar. If you have a square bowl at home, it seems to be possible. Cut parchment paper to fit the size of the bowl, place it inside the bowl, and press down with a fork to give it its shape.

Turn the nuts in a blender slightly and grind just enough to see the grains.

I picked it up because it was on sale but not I am happy that it was quite organic 👍❤️

Put the chocolate pieces in a baking bowl, pour the milk, and microwave for 30 seconds - Stir with a spatula - 30 seconds again to melt!

Scoop two tablespoons of Nutella and mix together for a subtle hazelnut flavor.

Add prepared nuts, dried fruits and cereals and mix well.

Now all you have to do is pour it over and harden it, and you're done! Pour the chocolate bar into the mold and put it in the refrigerator overnight to harden (usually 5-6 hours is sufficient)

Cut it into bite-size pieces and put it in a pretty bag, and it's ready to share.

I wrapped the bars with cute bags and shared them with my students❤️❤️

Developing latent constructs of dialogic interaction to examine the epistemic climate: Rasch modeling

Yejun Bae | Gavin W. Fulmer | Brian M. Hand School Science and Mathematics | DOI: 10.1111/ssm.12460   ABSTRACT This study investigates two latent constructs (Engagement and Value) of dialogic interaction to examine the epistemic climate. Since the new reform movement emphasizes creating generative learning environments, it is important to examine whether a classroom promotes students’ knowledge generation or limit students’ epistemicgrowth through rote memorization. At this point, it is inevitable to focus on dialogic interaction (one of the epistemic practices), because how students engage with and view dialogic interaction provides meaningful information about the epistemic climate. By employing Rasch modeling, this study tested a statistical validity of two latent constructs of dialogic interaction. The findings in this study highlight that the two latent constructs are theoretically and statistically valid and can be used to gauge the epistemic climate through students’ en...

[EE 304] Compliment Party - Classroom Activity

It is important to start the semester well, but it is just as important to finish it well. The meaning of ending well is probably a time to think about a meaningful ending together with the students. Looking back on the learning during the semester and the precious memories with the students I took the class with... So, the last week's activity was a Compliment Party - a discussion activity to express gratitude to the students who took the class. As always, I get a lot of energy from the posts of the students, more than I expected. Suddenly, I thought about the answer to the question of why I like my job and give it a lot of meaning, which is to meet students with various ideas through class activities and develop each other's thoughts under the big topic of 'education'. I thought it might be because watching the movie comes with a big meaning. So, I would like to write down the opinions of the students delivered through the activity. "Everyone in this class has be...

Publishing articles from Your Dissertation

For early-career researchers/faculty, a dissertation is the most promising source to increase the number of publications. But, when it comes to publishing peer-reviewed journal articles, whoever already experienced writing journal articles will definitely agree that publishing articles requires almost the same amount of effort as writing the dissertation.  Sine 2018, I have worked on publishing articles from my dissertation, and finally, by 2021, I got two papers published...See?! It takes almost four years! One of the advantages that I got was I already made my dissertation in a two-paper format. There are two types of dissertations..(or possibly several types); one is a traditional five-chapter format (Introduction-Literature Review-Method-Results-Discussion) and the other is a combined journal article format (Introduction-Paper 1-Paper 2-Paper 3...-Conclusion).   I chose a combined journal article format because my research interests were a general classroom climate wh...
