Weekend grocery tour in Kalona, IA

Hot hot Saturday,,me and my buddy started hot Saturday with a new adventure. Recently, I heard about delicious donuts of Golden Delight Bakery in Kalona, and that motivates me to explore Kalona local stores.
Our two-hour journey in Kalona

1. Golden Delight Bakery
Since we are not very donut-people, we shared one donut and got onion & dill bread and raisins.

famous donuts

2. JK Creative wood
Taking photo is not allowed inside of the store, so we didn't take any photos. There are beautiful quilts, potteris, and wood stuffs. I bought one Iowa-shaped ornament for Pat.

3. Community Country Store
One of the interesting places! It is very international and reasonable prices. Inside was hot but we cannot stop exploring the store because this store reminds of our childhood stores which sells everything. 😁🙆
Simple & white building

Oh, brown eggs & fresh cheese!

this store has everything! Interesting animal figures.

Korean style good-boy-hand!!

the receipt was also unique! We got brown eggs, Wisconsin string cheese, cookie cutters, and mint candies.

4. Central Discount Grocery
It was unexpected finding. We were heading to the stringtown grocery store for veggies and suddenly this store showed up on the map. The name includes 'Discount', so we cannot skip this store.

Opens only Mon, Wed, Fri, & Sat.

Huge~ space.

Bamboo chopsticks!

We got one red vinegar & red pepper flakes.
5. Stringtown Grocery
We used to get fresh tomatoes and brown eggs from this store. Once farmers market in Iowa City started, we more go to farmers market rather than here. Inside was crowded as always. We got fresh strawberries, zucchini, & Kalona milk and rushed to go back home because we realized our brown eggs and fresh bread got suffered by hot weather. 🙈😱😰

[Home-Baking] Whole-Wheat Ricotta Cheese Cobbler

There are so many different types of cobblers, and there are many different types of cobblers in each household. While it is easy to make, the taste is deep and light (?). This time, I decided to try making it healthier by using especially whole wheat flour. First, lightly wash the blueberries and place them on a sieve. Rub the outside of the apple with baking soda, clean it, and cut it into small pieces. I needed about 3 tablespoons of butter, but I only have 2.5 tablespoons left, so I'll just use it as is. Chop it up into small pieces and place it in a baking glass bowl. Put it in the microwave for 45 seconds and it melts so well. You can use sugar or honey, but I found quince jam left in the refrigerator for a while and decided to use it today. Take a large tablespoon of jam and spread it on top of the melted butter. Sift 1 cup whole wheat flour through a sieve Sprinkle two tablespo...

Mental Wellbeing Check-in Activity - Draw Emojis

Today's topic is my past week expressed with emoticons. Usually, in this activity, the teacher puts emoticons on the screen and asks the students to choose them, but in my class, I had the students draw them directly to add a more creative element. It was an early morning class, so even the students who rushed in felt that it was helpful to calm the students' emotions as they were able to catch their breath and draw slowly as soon as they started the activity. Student B, who tried to capture a lot of happy expressions by changing colors Student A is proud that her emoji has hair
