We made it! Giant bubble experiment!

Day 1. 2019 Upward Bound Ms. Bae Science. We opened our class successfully. I was unsure whether my plan works..two wands worked and wind helped us. Today's weather was perfect for the outdoor activity. You can slowly raise the wand from the bubble solution and let winds go through the bubble membrane. Then you can see a long horizontal bubble tunnel. I don't have any big container at home so decided to use a recycle bin in my office. The bin is deep enough to carry 2 gallons of bubble solution and wands fit very well. But making vertical bubble tunnel didn't work due to winds. We learned that we need a flat floor and no wind environment to make a giant vertical bubble tunnel.  We carefully lifted the hula hoop. Besides this fun activity, I got so many valuable questions from my students.  Does wind affect how bubbles are made? Why the bubble can float for so long? Why did some bubbles go way further than other bubbles? What is the balan

Hard to inflate a baby pool..

I ordered an inflatable baby pool for coming Upward Bound classroom activities. Once I got this huge (it is bigger than that I expected) baby pool, I realized that I need a special equipment to inflate. 1. First trial, air pressure in the gas station. Me and my friend gathered ideas to inflate the pool. Our first choice was using an air-pressure in the gas station. But it didn't go well because the tube tip of the pump didn't fit well the inlets of the pool. We need a connection part like air pump needles. 2. Second trial, hair dryer. After the first failure, we searched information on the internet. There are several Youtube clips about how to inflate the baby pool using hair dryers. We carefully watched and make a connector between the pool and a hair dryer. our hair dryer air pump It looks so fancy and seems to be working. However, we realized that the baby pool in the video was not the same with ours. Our inlets are too small, so the water bottle tip didn't

*Cooking* Korean Seaweed Soup (Birthday soup)

Seaweed soup in Korea means a lot of things - someone has a birthday, someone gives a birth, or someone goes on a diet. If you can make this special soup for your friend's or family member's birthday, I can say that you are a great person who knows how to make your friends or family happy. 👍😉 Let's make a special & healthy seaweed soup! What we need, Ground Beef/ Stew Beef / Chicken / Dried fish - 1/2 lb Dried Seaweed - a handful of 3 cloves of garlic - minced Sesame oil - 2 Table spoon Soy sauce - 1 Table spoon Salt - 1 teaspoon (add more or skip based on your preference) Water/Rice Water - 3 cups  *tips: I prefer to use rice water (when you wash rice, you will get a tons of rice water. Instead of throwing away, always save the second round rice water for cooking and the third round rice water for my facial wash.)  Today's my preparation: Rice Water, Seaweed soaked in the water, & Stew Beef Steps 1. In the small bowl, soak dried seaw
